To celebrate the return of Brass Blacks, we’re thrilled to partner with RecordingStudioLoser to give away a Brass Black 023 to one lucky winner.
RecordingStudioLoser (Jeremy Mang) has been a long-time Soyuz supporter, from sharing how our microphones and Launchers sound on specific sources to showing you how to use them correctly. His video on the effect of tubes on audio quality was an insightful look into the science behind some of the Soyuz Sound.
The 023 is a workhorse mic with a clear, dark sound (we commonly hear that it sounds like a blend between a ribbon and condenser), making it a perfect choice for instruments like acoustic and electric guitar, brass, and strings. It includes a -20dB pad that screws between the body and head, making it great for drums and other loud sources — lauded as «life changing on kick” by NPR Tiny Desk engineer Josh Rogosin.
