THE CAPSULE:
The sound of The 1973 starts with the S23 capsule, the same original Soyuz capsule design found in the larger Soyuz 023 Bomblet.
Inspired by the classic designs of LOMO and AKG in the early 70’s, the S23 reimagines the legendary CK12 with a custom triple-back-plate system and center-terminated design.
THE RESONATOR
Inside the 1973 is a custom-machined resonator designed to reduce unwanted internal resonance while adding a degree of plosive protection. This unique resonator keeps The 1973 balanced and articulate when working up close, whether that’s over a tom, a few inches from a cab, or right on top of a vocalist.
TRANSFORMERLESS DESIGN:
The 1973 uses a transformerless FET circuit for a fast, direct response with excellent clarity and transient detail. The transformerless design keeps the signal path direct and the noise floor low, without sounding sterile or clinical, while letting the natural character of the capsule and source come through.
Together, these elements give the 1973 its deep low-end, pronounced midrange, and pleasing top end that flatters high-frequency sources rather than exaggerating them.
