In this Soyuz Session we sat down with Nashville-based artist Corrina for a live in-studio performance of her original song «Freight Train.» Corrina was raised in a family of songwriters (she’s the only biological daughter of Amy Grant and Vince Gill), but has managed to carve her own unique voice along the way. Her lyrics are introspective, steeped in a self-awareness and maturity that is rare in younger artists.
Crooning alongside her are the trio Safehouse, comprised of vocalists Jack Armbrust, Grace Elizondo, and Hannah Kinnison. The three, all graduates of Belmont University, are close friends of Corrina. Bringing them into the studio for this Soyuz Session seemed a natural fit.

Engineering Soyuz Sessions with Corrina
The session was engineered and mixed by Gena Johnson, a Nashville-based engineer who recently won her first GRAMMY Award for her work on Chris Stapleton’s Starting Over. After cutting her teeth in RCA Studios, she left to pursue a career on her own and now bears an impressive discography: Kacey Musgraves, John Prine, Ashley Monroe, and many more. Gena has been working alongside Corrina for months now to produce, engineer, and mix several songs, including the forthcoming studio version of «Freight Train» (slated for release on September 8th). She used all Soyuz mics for this session, including an 017 Tube on Corrina’s vocals, a pair of 013 FETs on her acoustic guitar, and the 017 FET, 023, and 1973 on Safehouse.
The track was mastered by Pete Lyman, assisted by Daniel Bacigalupi, both of Infrasonic Sound. Gena has a longstanding history of partnering with Pete on many of her productions, including her work with Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Ashley Monroe, and John Prine.
