Check out The 013 AMBISONIC recently featured in an exclusive live performance with Post Malone as he debuted a new song in Nashville.
Post Malone’s playback engineer, Willie Linton, set up the 013 Ambisonic behind the drummer facing towards the crowd and used it as the foundation for his live mix and recording.
During the performance, the audio is captured and mixed for FOH without the use of the ambisonic plugins.
Essentially this was like using 4 of our 013 FETS on stage set up in a perfectly phase coherent array.
When it came time to mix the show for video, the four tracks were consolidated into a single ambisonic audio track in Pro Tools.
The Soyuz Transcoder was used to convert the audio to ambisonic format (from A-Format to B-format) and the Soyuz Decoder was used to shift the sound freely creating an immersive mix in stereo that highlighted all of the feeling and depth of the performance.
“Imagine having the raw power of a photo's RAW files but for audio. I can shift a microphone's position in post-production, elevate its presence, and nail its spatial positioning. Its tone is rich and warm, absolutely stellar. I can't praise it enough. Plus, it's compact and tactical. Whether it's for drum overheads, acoustic guitar, or just sitting in the middle of a room, you can’t miss. “
