A New Voice for a Timeless Sound.
New Voice.
Classic Sound.
The Silver 17 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser with a refined sense of openness, presence, and natural top-end, while retaining the classic, full-bodied character the 017 Series is known for.
Built around a newly developed edge-terminated version of our original S17E capsule, the Silver 17 adds a musical extension to our flagship sound.
The Silver 17 is a mic that feels immediately familiar, yet genuinely new. Vocals sit forward without edge. Acoustic instruments breathe. Transients stay defined, but never rigid.
Where Weight
Meets Air.
It carries the same larger-than-life lows and rich midrange of its sibling, the 017 TUBE, but with a greater emphasis on the presence and clarity demanded for modern productions.
The difference begins to shine in the upper range, where the Silver 17 remains open and expressive. The smooth lift highlights detail without exaggeration, while the controlled articulation helps vocals, guitars, keys, and other sources come through with less need for post-production sculpting.
Inspired by Classics. Built as an Original
The original S17 was influenced by K67 geometry, the architecture behind some of the most recorded large-diaphragm condensers in history, and serves as the base of the 017 Series' dense low-end and midrange.
For the Silver 17, our engineers built on that foundation, drawing inspiration from mics like the LOMO 19A18, a rare Soviet-era gem often compared to a C12 and prized for its airiness and top-end response.
This hybrid approach led to a complete redesign of the capsule with new acoustic resistance, new backplate mechanics, and new diaphragm tensioning. Where the original S17 routes its electrical charge through the center of the capsule, the Silver 17 applies the charge directly to the diaphragm and routes it through the mounting ring. With no center screw, there is no obstruction to the diaphragm's most sensitive area.
Handcrafted
Without Compromise.
The Silver 17, like every other Soyuz microphone, is an original design brought to life by our master machinists and engineers. Hand-turned bodies, hand-tensioned capsules, in-house wound transformers, and point-to-point wiring.
At the core: the military-grade 6ZH1P tube. This level of craftsmanship is what makes each Soyuz microphone an instrument you can rely on for decades and many sessions to come.
Where the Silver 17

Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Strings
Rich harmonic body with natural detail and extension.
Drums and Percussion
