A Message From Soyuz’ Co-founder
My name is David Brown. I’m the co-founder of Soyuz Microphones. I’m an American. I co-founded Soyuz back in 2014 with my partner and dear friend, Pavel, who is Russian. Even then, our countries didn’t get along very well and we were determined to show that it was possible for ordinary people from countries with adversarial relationships to come together and do something constructive. That’s the main reason we chose the name Soyuz, which means union in Russian.
It goes without saying that we don’t support the violence in Ukraine just as I never supported my own country’s many military adventures. But I have to say, nobody ever blamed me, as an American, for the actions of the US military, over which I had exactly zero control. Nobody called for boycotts of General Motors or Disney let alone boutique microphone companies who just happened to be American. Sadly, we’re living in a different time these days. We’re living in an era of “cancellation” and absolutes. There’s no room for context or discussion of any kind. Shame on us.
So, in the spirit of the times, allow me to state what I would have hoped would be obvious:
- We have no connection to the Russian military or state.
- We support the immediate cessation of fighting and resumption of dialogue in Ukraine.
- Our only goal as a company is to make the best quality microphones we can for our customers.
