The 1973 was created specifically to bring the classic sound of our handmade microphones to bedroom music makers, at-home recording enthusiasts, and project studio engineers. Like our other mics, the 1973 is neither a copy nor a clone, but rather a “modern classic.” It was developed and built the old-fashioned way: in-house with maximum attention to detail and no corners cut.
To best show off what the 1973 can do, we headed to the home of Michigan-based artist Via Mardot. As Via Mardot, Olivia Mainville brings together the worlds of exotica, French Ye-Ye, and spaghetti western music to create something all her own.
Watch the video below to hear Via Mardot recorded with the 1973. The microphone is used on all sources and is running straight into the Solid State Logic SSL2 audio interface.
